Recreational Ranch Sales Associate

Role Summary

We are seeking a disciplined, detail-oriented, and engaging Sales Associate. This role supports three revenue streams: a commercial cattle/beef operation, a premier hunting program, and a whitetail deer genetics and sales operation.

The primary responsibility of this role is to sell - whether it’s hunts, beef, cattle, stockers, or whitetail genetics. Facilitate sales communications, follow up on inquiries and bookings, see the booking process through check out. Enter and organize bookings in YellowStone and calendars.

Equally as important as sales, is Customer Engagement. Greet customers, listen to their needs, and make relevant product or service recommendations. Maintain extensive knowledge of the animals, hunts, products, and pricing to answer questions confidently. Responsible for stocking, merchandising, and keeping the Pro Shop organized. This position reports directly to Director of Resources, as well as any responsibilities assigned by Ranch Manager or Ownership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Procurement & Relations: Greet customers warmly and assist them in selecting products or services that meet their needs. Actively manage the pipeline for hunting bookings, deer, and beef sales. Manage initial inquiries, secure contracts, and maintain relationships with buyers and sporting clients.
  • Communication Command: Serve as a point of contact for daily phone and email correspondence with vendors, livestock agents, hunting guests, and beyond. Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Check clients in and out of the ranch.
  • Integrated Calendar Management: Organize the complex scheduling of cattle workings, deer breeding/sales cycles, and hunting season bookings across calendar platforms.
  • Financial Bookkeeping: Coordinate outgoing and payable invoices for beef, cattle, deer, and hunting sales. Process cash transactions accurately, including cash handling, cashiering, and managing the cash drawer. Utilize retail math skills to calculate prices, discounts, and totals efficiently.
  • Strategic Growth: Prepare data and reports for bi-weekly strategy meetings to discuss ranch performance, seasonal goals, and operational efficiency.
  • Software Management: Expertise with the programs listed below is preferred but not required. Manage reservations, room bookings, tasks, and correspondence in YellowStone. Sell and print hunting licenses through TPWD
  • Content Collection: Collect and organize media content for marketing purposes.

Qualifications

  • Sales Mindset: Comfortable with professional outreach and "closing the deal" with high-value beef, hunting, and breeding clients. Previous experience in retail sales or a retail store environment is preferred.
  • Ranching/Outdoor Literacy: A working understanding of (or experience in) cattle operations and the hunting industry, be able to "speak the language" of the ranch.
  • Administrative Excellence: Highly proficient in spreadsheet management (Excel/Google Sheets). Act professionally with proper speech, grammar, email etiquette, etc. Familiarity with financial software or point-of-sale systems is a plus.
  • Resilience: Ability to work in a rural ranch environment where priorities can shift based on weather, seasons, or livestock needs.

Expectations

  • Workload: 40-hour work week
  • Location: Hybrid – Start out at the ranch full time but will have the flexibility to work from home in the future. Will be required to be on the ranch certain days for check in or out purposes, especially during Whitetail season (October 1st – February 28th).

Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 § Increase based on commissions made after designated amount in annual sales.
  • Insurance provided
