Ranch Worker
Job Description
This ranch hand position in North Central Montana will be required to perform any combination of the following tasks to attend to livestock and farming operation: monitor, care for and move livestock using 4-wheelers to and from pastures for feeding while pastures are not producing feed; examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; assist with calving in spring, place mineral blocks; water cows, vaccinate livestock, herd into corral and/or stall and manually restraining animals; spray livestock with insecticide; assist with castration clip identifying notches or brands animals; clean corrals, etc
Must be able to make minor equipment repairs and perform routine maintenance and cleaning of farm implements, and operate tractors and farm implements required to plant cultivate, hay and harvest hay and other crops; must manually hoist/stack hay bales; pick rocks, repair/replace fence in rough terrain. Assist with maintenance and moving of irrigation equipment in summer.
The job entails working around farm machinery, as well as exposure to predators and snakes. Most duties are performed out of doors, and entail exposure to extreme heat, cold, dust, rain an other environmental conditions.
Worker must be able to crouch, bend, lift and carry up min 50 pounds. Additional hours and split shifts needed during haying, calving season.
Valid driving license required. Housing available, Pay dependent on experience and housing agreement.
