Duties

  • Assist with animal husbandry tasks including feeding, watering, grooming, and monitoring livestock health.
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery such as tractors, plows, and irrigation systems to support planting, harvesting, and land management.
  • Perform equipment repairs using hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, and basic mechanical knowledge to ensure machinery runs smoothly.
  • Manage heavy lifting tasks involving feed bags, equipment parts, or livestock supplies safely and efficiently.
  • Support hay operations activities including planting, fertilization, cutting, raking, baling, hauling.
  • Assist with other ranch staff in daily operations to ensure safety standards are met and tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Conduct routine inspections of fences, water lines, and infrastructure to prevent issues before they arise; perform necessary repairs promptly.

Skills

  • Proven supervising experience in agricultural or ranch settings with the ability to lead by example.
  • Mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience repairing farm equipment and machinery.
  • Extensive animal husbandry skills including animal handling and care for various livestock types such as cattle or horses.
  • Proficiency in operating heavy equipment like forklifts and other farm machinery safely.
  • Knowledge of welding techniques for equipment repair or structural maintenance projects.
  • Experience working with equine animals or in farming environments; familiarity with irrigation systems and greenhouse operations is a plus.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining physical stamina for outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to planting or feeding schedules; familiarity with horticulture practices beneficial.
