Ranch Hand

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Ranch Hand to join our team. Must have experience with Performance Horses. Would really like to find someone with team roping experience so that we can keep our horses legged up. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in agriculture and animal husbandry, with hands-on experience in various ranch operations. This role requires a commitment to maintaining the health and well-being of livestock, as well as the upkeep of farm machinery and equipment. The Ranch Hand will work closely with other team members to ensure the efficient operation of the ranch.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily ranch operations, including feeding, watering, and caring for animals.
• Perform routine maintenance on farm machinery and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Assist with animal handling and care, including health checks and administering medications as needed.
• Operate heavy equipment and forklifts safely to transport materials around the ranch.
• Conduct repairs on equipment using welding skills when necessary.
• Manage irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of crops and pastures.
• Utilize hand tools and power tools for various maintenance tasks around the ranch.
• Participate in planting, growing, and harvesting crops, applying horticulture knowledge as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas to promote safety and efficiency.
• Collaborate with team members to implement best practices in farming and animal husbandry.

Requirements

• Proven experience in supervising staff or managing ranch operations is preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and repair farm machinery.
• Familiarity with animal husbandry practices, including care for livestock such as cattle, horses, or sheep.
• Experience operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently is essential.
• Basic math skills for measuring feed quantities and maintaining records.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks as required throughout the day.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems and techniques for effective water management on crops.
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment is a plus.
• Previous experience in farming or agriculture is highly desirable.
