Full-Time Ranch Hand – Exotic Game Ranch

Overview
Private exotic game ranch in Athens, Texas is looking for one dependable, hard-working ranch hand to maintain the property and support daily wildlife and land management operations. This is a true outdoor job with a wide variety of tasks.

Duties

• Daily cleanup of outdoor areas, walkways, patios, driveways, and around shop/barn
• Mowing, brush clearing, and trail maintenance throughout the ranch
• Fence inspection and maintenance (repair wire, tighten posts, clear brush along fence lines)
• Fill and maintain wildlife feeders (protein, corn, etc.) on schedule
• Clean road culverts and drainage ditches as needed
• Clean, maintain, and properly store all ranch power equipment and tools
• Keep workshop/barn and surrounding areas clean, safe, and organized
• Basic care of ranch utility vehicles (golf carts, mules, RTVs, etc.)
• Light handyman tasks and minor repairs
• Assist with other ranch support tasks as needed
• Proactive attitude—spot and fix or report issues quickly

Experience

• Prior supervising experience in farm or ranch settings is highly desirable.
• Strong mechanical knowledge including equipment repair, welding skills, and familiarity with farm machinery is essential.
• Hands-on experience with animal husbandry practices such as feeding routines, health monitoring, and handling various species is preferred.
• Proficiency in operating forklifts and heavy equipment safely is preferred.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively for repairs or maintenance tasks.
• Experience in agriculture or horticulture environments demonstrating growing expertise is advantageous.
• Basic math skills are necessary for measurements related to feed calculations or land measurements.
• Physical stamina for heavy lifting and long hours outdoors in varying weather conditions is essential. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for motivated individuals passionate about agriculture to grow their skills while contributing meaningfully to our ranch operations!

What We’re Looking For

✓ Experience with ranch work, land maintenance, fencing, or operating equipment strongly preferred

✓ Comfortable running mowers, tractors, chainsaws, weed eaters, etc.

✓ Strong mechanical knowledge including equipment repair, welding skills, and familiarity with farm machinery is essential.

✓ Ability to work independently with common sense

✓ Respect for tools, equipment, property, and animals

✓ Physical stamina for heavy lifting and long hours outdoors in varying weather conditions is essential.

✓ Clean background check required

What We Offer

• Respectful, low-drama environment on a beautiful East Texas exotic game ranch
• Occasional weekend on-call rotation (compensated if called in)
• $3,000 to $3,700 per month (negotiable based on experience)
• Paid holidays
• Accrued PTO and sick leave (earned bi-weekly)
• All tools and equipment provided
• Regular schedule: Monday–Friday 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
