Job Description

Deseret Cattle & Citrus is seeking an experienced Central Functions Manager to join our ranch leadership team!

Summary:

The Central Functions Manager leads the maintenance and support activities that keep ranch operations running smoothly which includes equipment, vehicles, facilities, and roads. The role ensures all assets are safe, reliable, and ready for daily operations and oversees the shop, sets maintenance standards, manages equipment from purchase to disposal, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. This position works closely with ranch leadership and support teams to reduce downtime, control costs, and keep operations running efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead maintenance and support teams to keep equipment, vehicles, buildings, and roads safe and ready for use.
  • Plan and manage preventive maintenance programs and prioritize repairs based on seasonal needs.
  • Oversee repair tracking, work orders, and equipment records. Manage the full lifecycle of equipment, including purchasing, tracking, and disposal. Maintain accurate records for equipment, inventory, and financial reporting.
  • Supervise shop operations, including hiring, training, and developing employees.
  • Set clear expectations and provide coaching and performance feedback to team members.
  • Ensure all required training, licenses, and certifications are current.
  • Oversee truck and fleet operations to ensure safe operation and regulatory compliance.
  • Promote and enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with company and government regulations.
  • Keep shop and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Work with operations, finance, and support teams to align maintenance with business needs.
  • Identify ways to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and control costs.
  • Complete required reports and respond to requests in a timely manner.
  • Support operations during peak seasons and emergencies as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or technical training preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in equipment maintenance, shop operations, or related roles, including leadership experience; farming or ranching experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • CDL or ability to obtain one may be required depending on the operation.
  • Strong knowledge of farm or ranch equipment, vehicles, facilities, and heavy equipment maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with fleet management, equipment tracking systems, inventory management, and maintenance software.
  • Understanding of workplace safety standards, regulatory requirements, and safe operating practices.
  • Basic knowledge of budgeting, cost control, and asset management principles.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills, with the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with a focus on minimizing downtime and improving efficiency.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams.
  • High attention to detail, particularly in safety, compliance, and recordkeeping.

Working conditions:

  • Walking fields and sites; occasional lifting up to ~50 lbs; intermittent bending, climbing, or kneeling; use of controls, tools, and electronic devices; strong visual awareness and communication; physical effort is periodic, not sustained.
  • Outdoor agricultural settings; exposure to heat, cold, wind, sunlight; dust, pollen, chemicals; machinery and vehicles; uneven or elevated surfaces; moderate to loud noise; variable hours including extended or seasonal shifts; PPE required.
